Legislative Update (4-22-16)

Friday, April 22, 2016

Jolene Foss, community development director for the Princeton area and cousin of House Speaker Kurt Daudt, testified before the transportation committee on Wednesday.

Dear Neighbors,

There is no official House business today, Friday, as we are on Passover break. For those of you who celebrate Passover, I wish you and yours a blessed holiday.

On Wednesday, two bills that would fund road projects in Isle and Princeton were heard in the House Transportation Committee.

House File 2377 uses state bonding dollars to replace the Malone Island Bridge in Isle.

My other bill that was heard, House File 2809, allocates funds for Princeton to build new sewer and water infrastructure, to build a trail alongside Highway 95, and funds to construct a roundabout on Highway 95 at the 21st Avenue intersection.

Jolene Foss, the community development director for the Princeton area joined me to testify in support of this legislation.

I continue to refine and work with members to gather support for my Mille Lacs relief bill. I am happy to report that my bill has been included in the Jobs Committee omnibus bill. Along with the Mille Lacs relief bill, there is $300,000 to be used for Mille Lacs tourism is included in the Jobs bill.

That’s all for this week’s update. As always please be sure to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-6746 or via email at rep.sondra.erickson@house.mn.

Have a great weekend,
