“Governor Dayton’s veto of the Tax Relief and Job Creation Act is not only disappointing to me, but to the tens of thousands of middle class workers who would have benefited from the jobs created, and the tens of thousands of low-to-middle income families who would have received tax relief.
With this action, he has essentially enacted a tax increase on the working class homeowners and Main Street business owners throughout our state. He has essentially reduced Local Government Aid for more than 600 cities. He has told our veterans that Minnesota is no longer interested in helping them find a job. He has ignored the incentives and resources job creators need to compete and expand their workforce.
Governor Dayton called this a “bad tax bill.” While I could call his veto ludicrous, harebrained, laughable or appalling, I will simply say he is wrong. Instead of being obsessed with blasting Republicans for having the audacity to create jobs in this state, I would suggest he actually sit down and work with us on a proposal that puts Minnesotans back to work.”
