ST. PAUL – Several area roads will receive significant improvements over the next two summers according to State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston).
“The Minnesota Department of Transportation has released its road construction project list for both 2012 and 2013, and the good news for Fillmore and Houston County residents is that many of our roads are scheduled to receive upgrades,” Davids said.
This summer, construction crews will begin a pavement resurfacing and rehabilitation project on Highway 56 from Highway 63 to the Leroy city limits. Highway 44 between Caledonia and Hokah will receive similar improvements.
In 2013, two sections of Highway 16 - between Spring Valley and Highway 52 and between Highway 52 and Highway 43 - will be resurfaced and rehabilitated. Highway 26 between Highway 16 and the Iowa border will also be repaved next summer. Highway 44 will also receive attention as a resurface project will take place between Highway 52 and Spring Grove and five bridges will be replaced.
“Some of these projects are long overdue, so I’m pleased our residents will soon be driving on safer roads,” Davids concluded.
