Bike Lanes Help Make Our Transportation System More Accessible for All Users

Thursday, April 10, 2014
Dear Neighbors,

After one of the coldest winters in recent history, spring is finally upon us. Many of us are already taking advantage of this beautiful weather by spending time outdoors walking, running, and biking.

An environment where people can safely bike and walk is important not only for a world-class multi-modal transportation but it's also important for our health, environment and prosperity. A transportation system that’s safe for all users is something that helps make Minnesota strong. Minnesota has a national reputation of being one the best states for biking with all its trails and on street bike facilities.  Bike lanes serve as a tool that helps make our transportation system more accessible for all users, creates a safe and convenient transportation system, and serves as a welcome mat on our roadways for people who choose to bike.

I serve as the Minnesota House of Representative’s Transportation Vice Chair. The Minnesota Department of Transportation asked me to be in the following video.

Take a moment to watch this video to learn more about Minnesota bike lanes: http://youtu.be/py8eYJB-RH0.

I encourage you to contact me directly with any ideas, concerns, or ways I can help you on state issues. I can be reached by phone at (651) 296-5510 or by email at rep.connie.bernardy@house.mn.
