ST. PAUL, MN – Additional scholarships worth $2,500 or more are now available for college students pursuing high demand careers in any of the 30 state colleges of the Minnesota State College and University system. These scholarships were made possible with a $7 million investment approved by the Minnesota Legislature.
Minnesota Higher Education Finance and Policy Chair Connie Bernardy (DFL-New Brighton) said, “For many students, college isn’t an option without financial assistance. Minnesotans deserve access to affordable, quality post-secondary education to help advance their careers, support their families, and enhance their livelihoods, if that’s the post-secondary path they choose.”
Scholarships are available to Minnesotans pursuing the following career fields facing workforce shortages: advanced manufacturing; agriculture; health care services; information technology; early childhood education; and transportation.
"These workforce development scholarships can help address Minnesota’s worker shortage, in addition to providing opportunities to students who wish to tap into their full potential. It’s a win-win for Minnesotans and our economy.”
Interested students can contact their admissions or financial aid office at any Minnesota State college to learn more information about scholarships for the fall of 2019.
Rep. Bernardy encourages community members and Minnesotans to contact her at the Capitol at 651-296-5510 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
