The Theodore Wirth Chalet - Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2015
Location: The Theodore Wirth Chalet
Time: 6:0 PM

Dear Neighbor,

I’m sure you’ve seen the recent news about oil train explosions across the region. I’d like to invite you to join me and some of my legislative colleagues for a town hall meeting to discuss this issue on Tuesday, March 24th. The meeting will focus on rail safety and recently introduced legislation to improve oil train safety. Sen. Bobby Joe Campion and I will be joined by Rep. Lyndon Carlson, Rep. Mike Freiberg, Rep. Frank Hornstein, Sen. Scott Dibble, Commissioner Linda Higgins, Fire Chief John Fruetel and Dave Christianson from MN Dot.

The last five weeks have seen five oil train derailments in our region resulting in explosions and fires that have taken days to extinguish. A large quantity of oil moves through Minnesota by train, including through densely populated urban areas. The U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that more than 200 fuel trains will derail over the next twenty years, including 10 in densely populated urban areas. The derailments are projected to cost more than $18 billion.

What: Town Hall Meeting on Oil Train Safety
Who: Rep. Raymond Dehn, Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, Rep. Lyndon Carlson, Rep. Mike Freiberg, Rep. Frank Hornstein, Sen. Scott Dibble, Commissioner Linda Higgins, Fire Chief John Fruetel and Dave Christianson from MN Dot
Where: The Theodore Wirth Chalet - Fireplace Room (1301 Theodore Wirth Pkwy.)
When: Tuesday. March 24, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

It’s inevitable that we’ll see more oil train derailments and explosions. Unfortunately, we’re likely to see a derailment in an urban area with the potential to kill large numbers of people. Please come and join us to discuss how we can address this issue.

I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Raymond Dehn

Bryn Mawr Elementary School cafeteria - Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Date: Tuesday, June 24, 2014
Location: Bryn Mawr Elementary School cafeteria
Time: 5:00 PM

Dear neighbors,

With the historic grand opening of the Green Line last weekend, Minnesota took a major step forward toward better and more equitable access to public transportation – but we have a lot more work to do.

That’s why I’m holding an upcoming town hall meeting that will primarily focus on improving Minnesota’s transportation system. I’ll be joined by our Senator, Bobby Joe Champion, and Transportation Finance Committee Chair Frank Hornstein. We will gather with neighbors on Tuesday, June 24 at 5:00pm at the Bryn Mawr Elementary School cafeteria (located at 252 Upton Avenue South).

This is an important opportunity for you to ask questions, provide feedback and discuss as a community how we will move forward with building better roads, bridges, highways and public transportation. With any questions, please give me a call at (651) 296-8659 or email me at rep.raymond.dehn@house.mn.

Sincerely,

Raymond Dehn
State Representative, District 59B
