GUNTHER BILL WOULD BRING JOBS TO GREATER MINNESOTA

Thursday, January 22, 2015

ST. PAUL – Growing better paying jobs is the goal of new legislation being co-authored by State Representative Bob Gunther (R-Fairmont).

“This is a bill that will not only help Greater Minnesota grow and prosper, but also help the entire state,” Gunther said.

Gunther said the comprehensive jobs bill is necessary particularly in our rural areas where companies are having a difficult time finding workers that are qualified for their job openings.

Some of the provisions of the legislation include expediting Minnesota’s cumbersome permitting process; addressing workforce rental housing needs across the state; and providing tax credits to college graduates who use their degree and relocate to areas of the state with high workforce vacancy rates.

Gunther said finding ways to create more jobs throughout Minnesota is the key to maintaining a consistently positive state economy.

“This bill has already been heard in one committee and I’m pleased we’re off to a fast start,” Gunther said. “We are looking forward to accomplishing many things this session for everyone in the State of Minnesota.”
