News from Representative Erickson 07-15-2014

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Dear Friends,

This update will be my final email update of 2014. I hope you've found these occasional updates useful and informational. State law prohibits mass mailings and email updates from legislators from after July 15 through November 4th. However I will still be able to correspond with constituents who contact my office via phone, email, or letter. If you have questions, comments you'd like to share, or need assistance dealing with a government agency or any other constituent service work, please don't hesitate to contact my office. My contact information is as follows:

I want to thank you for the privilege of serving our community for the past two years. As a former teacher and GOP lead on the Education Policy Committee, I've dedicated much of my legislative work to improving the quality of our education system, and ensuring better outcomes for learners in all parts of the state. We still have a long way to go, and I was frankly disappointed by some of the policies passed by the majority this past session.

There were however areas of common agreements; over the last two years, there were bipartisan efforts to increase per-pupil funding, putting more money in the classroom. There was also unanimous support for providing school lunch for low income students. I'm proud that we were able to find areas of common agreement despite our differences in opinion on other issues.

I hope you'll keep in touch throughout the summer, and let me know if I can be of assistance. I remain committed to being there for you in whatever way possible.

Take care,

Sondra Erickson
State Representative, District 15A
