Rep. Lesch Named Chair of the House Civil Law Committee

St. Paul, Minnesota — Today, Speaker of the House-designate Paul Thissen announced the Minnesota House of Representatives Committee structure, schedule, and committee chairs. Thissen named State Representative John Lesch (DFL – St. Paul) as the Chair of the House Civil Law Committee.

Rep. Lesch released the following statement on today’s announcement:

“I am honored and humbled to have been named Chair of the House Civil Law Committee, and I’m ready to get to work to help Minnesotans. The Civil Law Committee deals with legislation in a variety of areas with a significant impact on the lives of everyday Minnesotans. It’s a great responsibility and one I take very seriously.

“People — not corporations — must be our priority and I’ll be fighting for them this session. It’s time to finally balance the budget without causing more pain for the middle-class families, kids, and seniors who have been forced to shoulder the burden for far too long. I look forward to doing all I can to protect civil liberties, and help Minnesota workers and consumers across the state in the months ahead.”
