ST. PAUL, MN – Today, a second disaster relief meeting was held at the State Capitol regarding state assistance for flash flooding across Northeastern Minnesota in late-June. Several state agency officials presented their funding requests. State Representative Mary Murphy issued the following statement:
“Minnesota has a long history of overwhelming bipartisan support for disaster relief packages. We must continue the tradition of helping our neighbors when catastrophe strikes. Residents whose lives have been turned upside down are depending on our swift action to adequately rebuild their lives and our stricken communities. The agency requests are based on extensive assessments by experienced local, state and FEMA officials taking the same approach as in previous disasters and they should be fully funded at the requested amounts.”
A one-day Special Session is expected to be called on August 24th by Governor Dayton to approve state disaster assistance.
