News from Representative Wills 06-21-2013

Friday, June 21, 2013

Dear Friend,

I hope last night’s storms didn’t cause any troubles for you. It was another busy week with meetings around the community. Please keep me informed of any community events you or an organization you’re a part of will be putting on – I try to attend as many as possible. If you’re interested in scheduling a constituent coffee meeting, please email me at rep.anna.wills@house.mn or call my office at 651-296-4306.

Thomson Reuters Tour

On Tuesday, June 18th, Senator Greg Clausen and I toured the Thomson Reuters facility in Eagan. Thomson Reuters is the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals. Thomson employs about 60,000 people in over 100 countries. Eagan is their largest location with about 7,400 employees, about 380 of whom live right here in House District 57B. I was impressed not only with the facility, but also the company’s vision to collaborate with local colleges to train our workforce for the jobs of the future. They and their employees volunteer time and resources in the community and around the world. They are also a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company that actively hires veterans. Thomson Reuters is a wonderful example and asset to our community. To learn more about Thomson Reuters, visit: http://thomsonreuters.com/about-us/

Childcare Unionization Information Meeting

On Monday, June 17th, I attended a meeting in Rosemount for childcare providers to learn about the new law that allows unionization of childcare providers and PCA's. If you are a provider who didn’t get a chance to attend the meeting and would like more information, and aren’t sure who to contact, please call or email my office and I will provide you with their contact information.

REMINDERS FOR TOMORROW:

Metro Red Line Launch

Tomorrow, June 22nd, I'm planning to attend the launch of the new Metro Red Line-complete with food, fun, and free stuff. The celebration is from 11am-3pm at two locations: the Apple Valley Transit Station and the Cedar Grove Transit Station. The ceremonial event takes place at 12pm at the Apple Valley Transit Station located at 15450 Cedar Avenue South. If you'd like more information, please see the event page here.

Levi & Kelly Hoyt Adoption Benefit

I hope you will join me tomorrow, June 22nd, at the Levi & Kelly Hoyt Adoption Benefit from 5-8pm. Levi & Kelly have a heartbreaking and inspiring story; after tragically losing their first child, they made the decision to adopt a baby from the Duluth Area. The adoption process is expensive, and happened very suddenly, so they're holding this event to help defray some of those costs. Read their incredible story by clicking here. If you're interested in attending, you can find more details about the event on Facebook by clicking here.
