Legislative Update from Rep. Jeff Backer

Friday, November 30, 2018

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday spent with friends and family. Every year, Thanksgiving makes us hit pause on the busyness of our daily lives and remember all of the blessings God has given us. I am especially thankful for my family and for the honor of serving you in St. Paul.

With a little more than a month to go before the start of the 2019 legislative session, I have started meeting with folks around the district to hear their priorities for the coming session. Rest assured, I will do everything I can to protect your pocketbook at the Capitol by working hard to reduce your tax burden and lower the cost of health-care. I am also looking forward to working on the issues that matter to our farmers and rural Minnesota as a whole.

On a final note, this year’s session will be the first since 2011 in which Mark Dayton will not be governor. I wish Governor Dayton nothing but the best in his retirement and thank him for his service to our great state. I look forward to developing a good working relationship with Governor-elect Tim Walz in the coming weeks.

That’s all for this week’s update. I will have more information for you as we get closer to the start of session. If you have any questions or comments, I urge you to contact me. I can be reached via phone at 651-296-4929 or by email at rep.jeff.backer@house.mn.

Have a great weekend,

Jeff
