“Meeting with residents and staff at Grand Village is a perfect reminder of the legislature’s duty to care for our aging population,” said Speaker Daudt. “During her first two years in St. Paul, Sandy Layman has been a champion for seniors and vulnerable adults, and fought to protect our aging loved ones. The people of Grand Rapids and the surrounding area should be proud of her work, and her passion toward this cause.”

“Thank you to executive director Kyle Hedlund, the Grand Village employees, and of course all the residents for welcoming us, and to Speaker Daudt for visiting our community,” said Layman. “It was important to hear about what we can do at the state level to help facilities like Grand Village continue to care and serve our aging loved ones.”

Elder and long-term care were important legislative priorities over the last two sessions. A number of critical measures were passed into law to support aging Minnesotans, address the caregiver workforce shortage, and protect seniors from abuse and financial exploitation.
