TRAP SHOOTING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to the St. Michael-Albertville High School Trap Shooting team and head coach Scott Berning for winning the US High School Clay Target League National Championship!
The competition took place July 13-15 in Mason, Michigan and the STMA team was victorious over 175 other teams from across the country by achieving a 96.8 percent (968 targets hit out of 1,000 shots) successful rate!!

ECONOMY CONTINUES TO GROW STRONGER
At both the national and state levels, Republicans have been working hard to enact cut taxes and roll back burdensome over-regulation. As Republican victories to empower individuals, families, and businesses by shrinking government continues trickling through the economy in the form of Supply-Side, Free-Market forces, the economy grows ever stronger. Headlines continue to be published highlighting new job creation, reduced unemployment, strong housing market and prices, and many other positive economic metrics.
Rep. Lucero joined by legislative colleagues Rep. Joe McDonald, Rep. Marion O'Neill, and Sen. Bruce Anderson as part of a panel in Buffalo hosted by the Wright County Economic Development Partnership.
DATA PRACTICES COMMISSION
The Data Practices Commission, of which I’m a member, has been meeting over the summer taking a deep dive examination of Minnesota's Health Records Act (MHRA) and the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). MHRA was originally created in 1977 to place limitations and require patient consent prior to records being released to third parties. HIPAA was enacted in 1996.
The details of MHRA and HIPAA get complex very quickly but a general summary is Minnesota’s MHRA provides stronger protections of patient data than does Federal HIPAA. There are forces presently working to water down the strong protections provided by MHRA for purposes of gaining easier access to health records without first having to obtain consent from individuals. While I believe portions of MHRA need updating to take into account modern technology and processes, I’m firmly committed to maintaining the strong protections and required affirmative consent prior to the sharing of any PII or PHI presently afforded by MHRA.
The Commission will continue to work on this issue over the next several months and make recommendations to the full Legislature regarding any changes.
