Maple Grove Days!

Friday, July 13, 2018

Friends,

The Maple Groves Days celebration is here! Congrats to the lucky and clever folks who found the medallion hidden in Donahue North Park. Better luck next year to the rest of us.

The volunteers with the Maple Grove Community Organization always do a great job putting on this great event for our community. Click here for a full list of all the great events for the whole family over the next few days!

Green Industry Advocate of the Year

Recently, I was honored by the Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association as the Green Industry Advocate of the Year for 2018. I was recognized for my work to reduce the amount of salt used by local businesses, which runs off into our lakes. This is not only to protect the three lakes in our community but the 10,000 across our state. I am always proud to work for our community on common sense issues like protecting our great natural resources.

Next Wednesday, July 18th, the 12th annual Minnesota Veterans Career Fair will take place at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. The career fair will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. making it more convenient for veterans who are currently employed but looking for something else, to be able to attend. Click here for details.

Save the Date: National Night Out

In 2017, Maple Grove placed 1st in the Nation for our National Night Out campaign! This year's National Night Out is Tuesday, August 7th. I love traveling to different events throughout our community and look forward to doing so again this year! You can register your neighborhood's National Night Out party here

New laws taking effect

Gov. Mark Dayton’s veto of the omnibus supplemental budget bill diminished the number of new laws set to take effect July 1, but some regarding athletic trainers, claims against the state and tweaks to a development fund are set to launch. Click here for more information on what new laws will hit the books this weekend.

As always, your thoughts on issues related to state government are welcome. You can email me at Rep.Dennis.Smith@house.mn, call (651) 296-5502, or just let me know in person at tomorrow’s town hall meeting or if our paths cross around town.

Have a great weekend!
