Housing Leadership Award & Students Visit the Capitol

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

Friends,

I hope the summer has treated you well and your Independence Day celebrations were fun and safe! Below is a quick update on a few things that have transpired since I last sent an update. Have a great summer!

Housing Leadership Award

I was recently honored with a 2018 Housing Leadership Award for my work during the 2018 Legislative Session. The award recognizes legislators for their efforts throughout the 2018 legislative session to promote homeownership at a price that families can afford.

I am proud to be a strong advocate for making the dream of homeownership a reality for more Minnesotans. Reforms we put in place are already starting to show results with a rising number of starter home construction going on across Minnesota. There is more to do but the work we did is a great start.

Our local paper covered the award here

Students Visit Capitol

A group of District 196 ELL (English Language Learners) students visited the Capitol this summer to take a tour and learn about Minnesota state government. Reps. Laurie Halverson, Anna Wills, and I enjoyed meeting with and answering questions from the students. We all had a great time!

The career fair will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. making it more convenient for veterans who are currently employed but looking for something else, to be able to attend. Click here for details.

New laws taking effect

On July 1st, a number of new laws passed during the 2018 session became law. Click here for more information.

On this day in History

On this day in 1804, Alexander Hamilton was fatally shot in a duel by U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr, his long-time political rival.
