Clearbrook, MINN—Rep. Matt Grossell, R-Clearbrook, is encouraging area residents to share their input with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on a new draft management plan for Lake of the Woods. The plan outlines proposed five-year fish population objectives and fishery management actions.
"Lake of the Woods not only provides excellent recreation for area residents but also contributes to tourism and our local economy. It’s an outstanding asset, and we need to ensure it remains that way for generations to come,” said Rep. Grossell. “I encourage anyone who wishes to do so in our community to share their input on the plan with the DNR.”
Public commentary will be accepted online through July 11 at mndnr.gov/lakeofthewoods. Paper questionnaires also are available at the DNR’s Baudette Area Fisheries Office (204 Main St. East in Baudette). According to the DNR, comments will be reviewed and considered in July and August, with a final Lake of the Woods management plan set to be completed in September.
