Bonding Projects Championed by Rep. Anselmo Signed into Law

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

SAINT PAUL, Minn— On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, Governor Dayton signed an infrastructure-heavy capital investment package featuring $825 million in general obligation bonding to fund construction projects throughout the state. Much of the funding is dedicated to brick-and-mortar projects, such as roads and bridges, water infrastructure and statewide asset preservation. Additionally, funding to make safety improvements in Minnesota schools and money to build three new veterans homes are also in the bill package.

What’s more, the bill also includes $18 million to build a new statewide food distribution center for Second Harvest Heartland, and $45 million for Higher Education Asset Preservation and Replacement (HEAPR) at the University of Minnesota. Both of these measures were authored by Rep. Dario Anselmo, R-Edina.

“I am pleased Governor Dayton signed the bonding bill into law which included many worthy projects around the state, including some I championed at the Capitol this year,” said Rep. Anselmo. “Helping reach and feed more Minnesotans in need, and taking care of our buildings at the University of Minnesota—an institution that is such an asset to our state, were two important measures that needed critical funding. I’m glad we could find bipartisan agreement on the bonding bill and get it signed into law, helping Minnesotans in Edina and every corner of our state.”
