Happy Thanksgiving

Monday, November 20, 2017

Dear Neighbor,

From my family to yours, I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful holiday and long weekend, celebrating with friends, family and food!

During this time of year, I always like to take the time to reflect on the blessings in my life including my loving family, my wonderful friends, our veterans and the privilege of representing a great community like ours at the State Capitol. I am also thankful that I recently became a grandmother for the second time to a beautiful little girl, Charlotte Olivia!

So whether you're staying home or traveling far this Thanksgiving weekend, I wish you a fun, safe and blessed holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

CSG 50-State Summit on Prison Reforms

I recently took part in a two-day Council of State Governments Justice Center Summit in Washington D.C., where we discussed prison and public safety reforms. The purpose of this summit was to equip leaders from all fifty states with a better understanding of crime, arrest and correctional system trends in their jurisdiction. Together, we worked to identify ways to reduce crime and recidivism, improve outcomes for people with mental health and substance abuse disorders, and reduce spending on our prison system. Congressman Jason Lewis also addressed the crowd right before I took the stage as part of the panel.

It was great to gather ideas from public policy experts and state leaders from across our nation that I can bring back to Minnesota, as well as share the things we’re doing well here with other states.

Tekne Awards

It was an honor to recently receive the 2017 Tekne Public Service Award from the Minnesota High Tech Association for my work on small cell technology. Improving our technology infrastructure and advocating for innovation and investments in Minnesota is vital to the well-being of our state. I appreciate the recognition!
