Dear Friends,
I would like to take a moment to thank all of our veterans, active military, and their families as we get set to celebrate Veterans Day this weekend.
On Veterans Day we all honor the sacrifice brave men and women make in service to our nation, protecting our freedoms and liberties at home and around the world. Our nation remains a shining beacon of freedom for people around the world and we have our veterans to thank for that.
So if you are a veteran, thank you for your service. We are the land of the free because of your bravery and sacrifice.
Many local businesses and services are offering discounts this weekend for current members of the military and veterans. A partial list of a few of those businesses offering discounts can be seen here.
Care Packages from Our Community
Last month, I had sent out a notice about the great work being done by the Minnesota West Point Parents Club (MNWPPC). They were organizing a drive to send care packages to deployed soldiers across the world. I am happy to report that the effort was a great success!
Volunteers filled up and shipped 150 care packages and the full cost of shipping was covered by the MNWPPC. Thank you so much for helping support such a worthy cause! It is an annual effort so lets make next year an even bigger success!
EVENTS COMING UP IN OUR COMMUNITY:
Military Appreciation Dinner
The Apple Valley Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and the American Legion Post 1776 will be hosting a Military Appreciation Dinner for all current military, veterans, and their families on Thursday, November 16th. Rep. Erin Maye Quade and I will be speaking at this event.
Rosemount Tree Lighting Ceremony
The 7th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Rosemount Community Center will be on Saturday, November 18th. Also, join in the send-off of the Rosemount High School Marching Band for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Interim Appointments
If you would like to meet with me to ask any questions or discuss a particular issue, my meetings will be held in-district during these months before next year’s session. Simply use the same contact information for my office below, and we will find a time and place to meet in our community, instead of traveling all the way to Saint Paul!
