Representative Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, issued the following statement regarding today's news that Senator Franken will oppose the nomination of Minnesota Supreme Court Justice David Stras to the 8th Circuit Court:
"Senator Franken's mindless, partisan opposition to Justice Stras only guarantees that an equally-conservative but possibly less-qualified judge will be appointed from a different state. Minnesotans deserve to have a voice on the 8th Circuit Court, and legal experts from across the political spectrum agree that Justice Stras is qualified and would make an excellent addition to the court.
"Make no mistake: Senator Franken's opposition is based only on his aspirations for higher office, not what's best for the future of the 8th Circuit Court or his constituents. You aren't a comedian any more Al; do your job and sign the blue slip."
