St. Paul State Representative Jenifer Loon (R-Eden Prairie) began her first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives this week when the 86th Legislature convened. Loon will represent Eden Prairie in St. Paul.
I am honored with the privilege of serving my community in the Minnesota House, Loon said. The opportunity to serve in the legislature is one that I take very seriously, and I am committed to working in a civil manner for sensible solutions in our state government. I will serve this job to the best of my abilities and with the respect that the office deserves. I am greatly looking forward to the opportunity to work on the issues that matter to our community and our state.
Rep. Loon brings 16 years of business and legislative policy experience with her to St. Paul. As the former Chief of Staff for the Committee on Small Business in the U.S. House of Representatives, Loon orchestrated the Committee's work to adopt an agenda dedicated to reducing onerous tax, regulatory and paperwork burdens on small businesses. In addition to her work in the private sector Loon regularly volunteers in Eden Prairie school and community organizations. She is a past PTO President and Sunday School teacher and currently is a member of Eden Prairie Morning Rotary and the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce.
This biennium Rep. Loon was appointed to serve on four committees that will allow her to put her experiences to work at the capitol. These committees include Crime Victims / Criminal Records Division, Environment Policy and Oversight, K-12 Education Policy and Oversight, and Taxes. I was pleased with these appointments, Loon commented. With my past experience I can bring some common sense ideas to the table in these meetings.
Rep. Loon would like to inform constituents of several ways to keep up-to-date with what is happening at the Capitol. On her House website, www.house.mn/42B, you can find her latest Capitol Comments. Also, you can sign up for her email updates. You can listen to her thoughts on current issues by downloading her podcast. All of which can be easily found on her house website.
Rep. Loon encourages constituents to contact her with questions or opinions on any state legislative issue. She may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651.296.7449. Mail should be sent to Rep. Jenifer Loon, 311 State Office Building, 100 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
