Dear Neighbors,
This week marked the first full week of committee hearings, and the second week of the legislative session. Here is a brief overview of where things stand as we move forward.
Health Care Relief and Reform (HF1)
The health care reforms and relief in House File (HF1) are moving their way through the necessary committees, and I am hopeful that we will see this bill brought to the House floor once again for debate, and a simple majority vote for its passage.
My Bills
I am pleased to have already introduced several important bills this session, including the following proposals:
-A bill increasing the length of time that nonprofit fundraisers can have a tax exemption from 5 days to 10 days. This will benefit nonprofits such as 4-H clubs.
Here is a link to the bill's House tracking page.
-A request for bonding dollars to improve the County Road 42 and Hwy 52 interchange in Dakota County.

-An additional request for funding to improve the County Road 42 and Hwy 52 interchange, in the absence of a bonding appropriation.

-A request for bonding dollars for the Minnesota Zoo for maintenance and improvements.

These bills would be a great benefit for our community and I look forward to moving them through the legislative process.
Constituent Visits
Thanks so much to Brian and Kelly who took the time to visit me at the Capitol this week on Tuesday, January 10th! They were my first constituent visit of the session and were here to advocate on behalf of the disability community.
Veterans Job Fair
The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, in partnership with Dakota County Technical College, will be holding a Veterans Job Fair on Wednesday, January 25th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The event will be in Dakota County Tech's Dakota Room and West Atrium areas on the first floor. Veteran job seekers are encouraged to stop by and see what hiring opportunities are available!
Job postings are now available to view online for preparation ahead of time. Go to:

Exciting Announcement
I am so pleased to announce that my husband, Rob, and I have welcomed two new additions to our family. Shalom and Solomon were born yesterday, January 12th, and we feel so very blessed.
Gideon is getting used to the whole idea, and is sure to be a great big brother for these two! I am so excited to see how their relationships grow and change in the coming years as a family.
I will be taking maternity leave from the Capitol to spend time with our new little ones, but will still be reachable by email, or by leaving a message with my assistant, Emily. I will also be keeping informed about the day-to-day goings on at the Capitol while I am on leave.
If you plan to stop by and visit me at the Capitol once I'm back from maternity leave, my office is 491 in the State Office Building.
Sincerely,
Anna Wills
State Representative, District 57B
