Tuesday, November 22, 2016

ST. PAUL, Minn.—On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, House Republicans unveiled new committee chairs for the 2017-2018 legislative sessions. Representative Jenifer Loon, R-Eden Prairie, will continue serving as Chair of the House Education Finance Committee, a role she has held since 2015.

“It is an honor to continue serving as Chair of the Education Finance Committee, and I promise to continue working on meaningful initiatives that improve student learning, close our state’s achievement gap and provide every child with an opportunity for academic success,” said Rep. Loon. “Last biennium, we had a number of significant accomplishments including historic investments in our students and schools and teacher licensure reform, but there is still more work to be done. I look forward to building on those successes and continuing our work next year for Minnesota kids.”

Rep. Loon has been a long time, vocal advocate for Minnesota students and better outcomes in education. Over the past two years, she led the way to pass funding and policy initiatives that empower teachers and schools, invest in education, prioritize early childhood learning and improve classroom safety.

Rep. Loon, who was first elected in 2008, serves District 48B in the Minnesota House which includes most of the City of Eden Prairie.
