STATEMENT: Minnesota House debating State Government Finance bill that puts Minnesotans at risk

Thursday, April 6, 2017

SAINT PAUL, MN—Tonight, the Minnesota House is debating the Omnibus State Government Finance bill. In a time of surplus, the bill arbitrarily cuts vital state services, lays off thousands of hard working Minnesotans, threatens our cyber security, and endangers our environment.

Rep. Sheldon Johnson (Saint Paul), the DFL-Lead on State Government, released the following statement:

“Republicans are choosing to put tax cuts for corporations and the rich ahead of Minnesota’s cyber security, environment, and public services and workers. Not only are the Republicans putting the well-connected few over regular Minnesotans, they’re laying thousands of people off at a time when our state has a surplus. It’s wholly irresponsible to not invest in the things that make Minnesota great, like education, our environment, high quality public services, and measures to keep data safe from hackers.”

Rep. Sheldon Johnson (DFL-Saint Paul) serves as the DFL-Lead on the State Government Finance Committee.
