ST. PAUL – Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Pine and St. Louis Counties will receive state grant funding to help address the growing need for transit services. Recipients of the grants are Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency and the Duluth Transit Authority.
Of the 23 transit providers awarded state grants, the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency and the Duluth Transit Authority will receive $6.4 million in total which is the largest amount of all awardees.
“In general, there are less transit options in Greater Minnesota and certainly in District 3B,” said Rep. Mary Murphy (DFL-Hermantown). “So, this boost in funding will help provide more reliable transportation to residents who do not or cannot drive. It can help seniors continue to be independent and it is another option for some families.”
