ST. PAUL – Lake Superior area schools will receive $50,000 in state funding to help expand internet access to students. The Minnesota Legislature worked with Governor Dayton last year to invest $500,000 in grants for high-speed internet in schools statewide, free of earmarks.
Of the twelve school districts awarded state grants, the Lake Superior School District received 10% of the $500,000, which was the largest amount of all awardees.
“Congratulations to School District 381,” said Rep. Mary Murphy (DFL-Hermantown). “These funds will go a long way for students and families in our community. I’m grateful that the work we accomplished as a Legislature, along with Governor Dayton has helped make this funding possible.”
Representative Murphy serves on the Education Finance Committee in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
