News from Representative Wills 07-31-2015

Friday, July 31, 2015

Dear Friends,

Next Tuesday, August 4th, is Night to Unite, an annual event that promotes unity in our communities and public safety awareness. There are a number of neighborhood gatherings planned in Apple Valley and Rosemount, with cookouts, games, visits from fire and police departments, and more.

For more information on Apple Valley Night to Unite, click here. For information on Rosemount Night to Unite, click here.

I will be visiting as many gatherings as possible so I hope to see you there! If you would like me to stop by YOUR block party, let me know the location and I'll add it to my route.

IN THE COMMUNITY:

Dakota County Regional Chamber Lunch
On Monday, July 20th, I joined local business leaders at the Dakota County Regional Chamber Let's Do Lunch event at Fireside Restaurant to hear about what's happening in the Rosemount business community. I also had the opportunity to share a legislative update of some of the highlights from the 2015 legislative session and a preview of the agenda for next year.

New Rosemount Officer
I wanted to extend congratulations to Rosemount native Kevin Tapper. Kevin was sworn in recently as Rosemount's newest police officer, recently returning to our community after living in Florida. The Rosemount Town Pages has a nice article on Kevin's story which you can read by clicking here. Welcome back to Rosemount, and thanks for your service protecting our community!

Rosemount alum wins Distinguished Scholar Award
Rosemount High School alumnus Katie Murgic was named a Big 10 Distinguished Scholar athlete by the University of Minnesota earlier this month. 72 Gopher athletes earned the award, with Katie being one of just nine to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA. You can read more about her award by clicking here. Congratulations Katie!

As always, please contact me anytime with your questions and feedback, or if you'd like to schedule a meeting. My door is always open, and I enjoy hearing from you! Reach me any time by email at rep.anna.wills@house.mn or by phone at 651-296-4306. Sincerely,

Anna Wills
