Legislative Update - September 16, 2021

Thursday, September 16, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

I want to connect with you! That’s why I’m launching 63B office hours next week! Are you a resident of House District 63B with a question, an idea, input, or something to share? Sign up for my weekly office hours, and let’s connect.

Greenman Office Hours

Starting next week, I’m going to meet with constituents virtually every Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. To keep everyone safe we’re sticking with Zoom or the phone for now, but I hope to be back in person when it’s safe. To schedule a time slot, please contact Ellen at ellen.larson@house.mn or (651) 296-5517.

Advocating for Our Community

It’s been a busy week at the Capitol and in our community! On Monday, I joined some of my colleagues and dozens of Minnesotans for a rally at the Capitol. We’re fighting to keep abortion legal, accessible, and safe for everyone, everywhere.

I also had a chance to visit The Family Partnership, a local nonprofit organization that provides resources for children, parents, Minnesotans struggling with mental health, and people who’ve experienced sexual exploitation. Rep. Jim Davnie, Rep. Hodan Hassan, and I were able to see their new building on the corner of Lake St. and Bloomington Ave. The Buiding for Better Futures Center provides education and care for children 12 and younger, mental health services for individuals and families, anti-sex trafficking resources, and more.

I joined fellow lawmakers and labor, environmental, and faith leaders yesterday at a stop for the new Orange Line, a bus rapid transit (BRT) route that will connect Minneapolis, Richfield, Bloomington, and Burnsville when it opens later this year. We showed up to support passage of the federal infrastructure bill that will make investments in BRT infrastructure. Investments in transit will help our region and our state thrive by improving accessibility, reducing carbon emissions, and connecting our communities.

Redistricting Update

As a member of the House Redistricting Committee, I’ve participated in several public hearings lately to gather input from residents of all Minnesota’s eight congressional districts. You can watch our previous hearings, including the one with folks from the 5th Congressional District, on House Public Information Services’ YouTube channel.

Please feel free to call or email me if there’s something you want to discuss or if I can be of assistance. You can reach me at (651) 296-4200 or rep.emma.greenman@house.mn.

Sincerely,

Emma
