Rep. Howard applauds launch of COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program

Monday, August 24, 2020

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Minnesota Housing launched the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program to help renters and homeowners maintain housing stability and prevent evictions and homelessness. The program was created with $100 million in federal funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. State Representative Michael Howard (DFL – Richfield), vice chair of the House Housing Finance and Policy Division, released the following statement:

“COVID-19 remains a clear and present danger to Minnesotans, and thousands are still out of work. Worse, inaction in Washington D.C. has left families on the brink. That is why I am grateful for the swift action of Governor Walz and Minnesota Housing to create the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program.

“Stepping up for Minnesotans when they need us most is the only way we are going to emerge from this global pandemic stronger. This relief couldn’t come at a more important time.”
