Legislative Update from Rep. Boe

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This will be the first of regular email updates that I will be sending throughout the legislative session to help keep you informed of what’s happening in St. Paul. I want to have an open dialogue, and make sure you’re up-to-date on any big news at the Capitol.

Last Tuesday, the 2019 legislative session officially began. The day’s events featured a swearing-in ceremony as all 134 members of the House of Representatives took the oath of office. Being sworn-in as a state representative for the first time was an incredible moment and a great reminder that it is an extraordinary privilege to represent our community in the legislature. It is an honor to serve as our community’s voice at the Capitol and I am grateful for everyone who has placed their trust in me. I am eager to work with my colleagues and hear your feedback in order to best represent Carver County and deliver solutions to the important issues we face.

Committees

Legislative work got underway this week as House committees start regularly meeting and considering bills. Committees are where a lot of the nuts and bolts of “lawmaking” takes place. Members will debate the fine details of bills, offer amendments, and hear testimony from the public in order to best understand how proposed legislation will affect our state.

This year I have been assigned to serve on the Energy and Climate Finance & Policy Division, Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee, and Legacy Finance Division. Each committee presents different challenges and opportunities, and in each instance, I will make sure I advocate for policies that will best serve hardworking taxpayers and families.

Please Contact Me

As session progresses, I will be sure to keep you updated of the happenings at the Capitol. In the meantime, I urge you to contact me and share any legislative questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. Only when I hear our district’s concerns and priorities can I best represent you in the legislature. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-5066 or by email at rep.greg.boe@house.mn. Also, if you’re planning to be in St. Paul, I encourage you to schedule a time to stop by my office. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Greg
