Legislative Update from Rep. Heinrich

Thursday, August 29, 2019

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Summer is winding down, and with the cooler temperatures comes another school year! I want to wish all the best to the students, teachers, coaches, and staff who are going back to school.

Save Your Receipts

As you gear up for back-to-school, don’t forget to save your receipts! Minnesota has tax incentives to lower the annual cost of school supplies. Find out more about what qualifies here.

High School Page Program

The Minnesota House of Representatives has a program for high school juniors that allows students to spend a week working at the Legislature during session, holding mock committee hearings, assisting legislators and staff during House floor sessions, and learning about how the state legislature works firsthand. If you know of a high school junior who might be interested, please visit this website for more information!

Upcoming Elections

This November we have a regularly scheduled school board election. To find your polling location or to update your voter registration, please visit the Secretary of State’s website here.

Mini-Session

This October, the Minnesota House of Representatives will be having a mini-session in southeastern Minnesota. There have been a number of mini-sessions held in previous decades, with the most recent being a 1997 mini-session in Willmar. We have not yet seen a meeting agenda.
