Legislative Update- November 29, 2022

Tuesday, November 29, 2022
Rep. Morrison

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this finds you well and that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones. There is so much to be grateful for; our health, our families, and our ability to gather safely after the last two challenging years.

Now that the election is over, I can resume sending legislative updates to our neighbors. Earlier this month, Minnesotans elected a unified state government for the 2023-2024 biennium:  DFL majorities in the House and Senate, and a DFL Governor. I’m honored to continue my service to our community in a new role as your state senator-elect. Because of redistricting, some of my constituents may have different representation at the legislature this biennium; you can use the Minnesota Legislature’s “Who Represents Me?” finder to search for your new state representative and state senator, effective January 3, 2023.

All packed up and ready to move next door! I have been so honored to represent District 33B in the Minnesota House. And I can’t wait to represent Senate District 45 in the Minnesota Senate!

Also in January, we’ll begin work to pass a new state budget. The Governor will propose a budget, and the House and Senate will pass bills to meet the needs of our state.

According to the Minnesota Constitution, the last day of session must be on Monday, May 22, 2023.

I’ll continue to be in touch with updated contact information as I transition to the other chamber. Until then, please don’t hesitate to reach out here with any questions, comments, or ideas for the upcoming session.

Your input is important, and it’s an honor to elevate the voices of our Lake Minnetonka communities at the State Capitol.

Have a great week!

Take care,

Kelly
