Release: Rep. Morrison statement on new state guidelines to combat COVID-19

Wednesday, November 18, 2020

SAINT PAUL – Tonight, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced a set of new public health guidelines aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 across the state of Minnesota.

Rep. Kelly Morrison (DFL – Deephaven), a practicing physician and vice-chair of the House Health and Human Services Policy Division, issued the following statement:

“Our hospitals are full, and Minnesota is running out of providers to care for people who need it, for COVID and non-COVID illnesses and injuries alike. Let’s help our dedicated frontline healthcare workers - and ourselves - by following public health guidelines: stay home when we can, wear a mask, wash our hands frequently, avoid large groups, social distance, and get tested.

While positive news of an effective vaccine is encouraging, public health experts have said widespread distribution won’t be available well into 2021. In the meantime, we need to take targeted, data-driven action now to get the virus under control and to protect each other.”
