Statement: Rep. Morrison joins Minnesotans in call to end gun violence after El Paso, Dayton shootings

Thursday, August 8, 2019

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Wednesday evening, Rep. Kelly Morrison (DFL-Deephaven) joined Protect Minnesota and Moms Demand Action – two leading organizations working to make our communities safer – for a rally on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol, where Minnesotans gathered to stand up against hate, and call for changes to end mass shootings and other senseless gun violence.

Rep. Morrison issued the following statement:

“Minnesotans have been loud and clear that they want their legislators to address the epidemic of senseless gun violence in our communities, and I am committed to common-sense solutions like criminal background checks and extreme risk protection orders to keep guns out of the hands of people who are a danger to themselves or others.

“People deserve to be safe at school, work, concerts, movie theaters, places of worship, and other public spaces. We need to stand up to the gun lobby in order to take action to curb the epidemic of senseless gun violence and keep our communities safe.”
