Legislative Update - Legislative Survey & Vaccine Connector

Friday, February 26, 2021

Rep. Lippert

Dear Neighbors,

As we wrap up February, we are starting to have a clearer picture of where our legislative session is going, especially with today’s economic forecast. With important legislative deadlines coming up in March, I want to hear from you about the issues that matter most. If you have a moment, please consider taking this brief legislative survey

I believe our work in the Minnesota Legislature is at its best when it’s responsive to your needs, and I look forward to your responses.

The Latest Vaccine News

Nearly 400,000 Minnesotans have been fully vaccinated, with more getting their second dose every day. While we’re still months away from the vaccine being widely available to all who would want it, this week the state released a more concrete timeline of when that would be.

As we continue to focus on vaccinating those age 65 and older, the goal is to vaccinate 70% of Minnesotans in that category by the end of March before allowing those with specific high-risk health conditions and targeted essential workers to get their first dose in April. This spring, we’ll gradually include more specific groups before the vaccine is available to the general public this summer.

Regardless of when you’re expecting to receive the COVID vaccine, you should sign up for Minnesota’s Vaccine Connector.

connector

By signing up, the Connector will:

  • alert you when you are eligible to receive a vaccine;
  • connect you to resources to schedule a vaccine appointment; and
  • notify you if there are vaccine opportunities in your area.

If you’ve already registered for the COVID-19 Vaccine Pilot Program or the COVID-19 Community Vaccination Program, you’re already included in this database. In the meantime, it’s important that we continue to follow public health guidelines to keep ourselves and our neighbors healthy.

100% Soil Healthy Farming

This month, in working with the Land Stewardship Project, I introduced legislation that would establish the Soil-Healthy Farming Program. The program would provide financial support to farmers who implement or maintain soil-healthy farming practices.

Soil Health

Farmers helped write the bill, testified on its behalf, and are advocating for it, and thanks to them we were able to advance this bill through two of its three committee stops, with our next hearing taking place in the House Environment and Natural Resources committee. A bill that is good for our soil, water, and climate is good for all of us.

You can sign and share the 100% Soil-Healthy Farming Petition today.
