Rep. Brand Approves COVID-19 Response Legislation

St. Paul, MN – Today, the Minnesota House passed a robust, bipartisan package of legislation aimed at addressing and anticipating the various needs of Minnesotans during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Representative Jeff Brand (DFL – St. Peter) voted in favor of the legislation. 

“These are uncharted waters, and I am honored to be doing my part to respond to the needs of Minnesotans during the COVID-19 pandeminc,” said Rep. Brand. “This bill isn’t a magical fix-all solution, but it provides the resources and clarity that we’re able to deliver right now. I’ll continue to work with my colleagues in the Minnesota Legislature, as well as the Walz administration, to ensure we remain swift and responsive to the ever-changing landscape presented during these times.” 

The legislation passed today includes $9 million for the Department of Human Services for food security, $26.5 million for the Emergency Service Grants program to provide shelter for Minnesota’s homeless population, $30 million in one time grants to child care providers, $10 million dollars for small business loans, financial relief for Minnesota’s workers, and the necessary flexibility for state agencies to respond to the pandemic.
