LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FROM REP. JEREMY MUNSON - DISTRICT 23B

Friday, June 4, 2021

The COVID pandemic seemed like something straight out of science fiction, and our response as a society even revealed Orwell’s cult classic 1984. People cast down those who they disagreed with as villains, and the division in this country was at a level never imaginable. I remember the early days where grocery stores were picked clean and fear over what might happen next dominated the American psyche.

Fauci Emails

This week the media was slammed with a devastating truth; the government’s response to COVID appears to have been based on political science, not medical science. With Dr. Fauci’s emails being release from the early days of the pandemic (January to July of 2020), we now have all the facts.

Here is what we now know about Fauci’s COVID knowledge early in the pandemic:

  1. Masks do not protect uninfected people from getting COVID. On February 5, 2020, Dr. Fauci wrote: Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading the infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection. The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective…I do not recommend you wear a mask…
  2. Masks make little difference in community settings. An email by Andrea Lerner to Dr. Fauci on March 31, 2020, to report a study on masks for mitigating the spread of disease found that: Bottom line: generally there were no differences in ILI/URI/ or flu rates when masks were used…
  3. Evidence early in the pandemic pointed to the virus being man-made. An email from Kristain Andersen to Dr. Fauci on January 31, 2020, gave credence to President Trump’s theory that COVID-19 may have been created at the Wuhan Lab: The unusual features of the virus make up a tiny part of the genome (>0.1%) so one has to look closely at all the sequences to see that some of the features (potentially) look engineered.

You can read all 3,234 pages of emails HERE.

Fauci’s emails make it clear: Senator Rand Paul was right, yet he was lambasted for questioning Fauci’s mask mandates and questioning our funding of the Gain of Function research at the Wuhan lab. Even worse was the complete dismissal of the mainstream media. Since President Trump mentioned the virus could have come from China, it has to be fake...right? But what does he know he isn’t an expert! The media was so quick to label this fact as a conspiracy theory and force it down the throats of Americans that it took us almost a year and a half to get the truth. Instead of the media actually doing some investigative research, they assumed It had to be a lie. Even after China refused to allow independent researchers into the lab, and we found out we have approved and funded the Gain of Function research project the media refused to accept that reality. I hope the media will correct their stories critical of these ideas, but I’m not holding my breath.

Government and the media need to do better. This is just the first step in uncovering what our government knew about the source of COVID and what information they had when choosing to shut down our economy, close our schools, and force Americans to wear masks. It is important to uncover the truth so we never again allow the government to take such overreaching actions. At the State level, I will work to change our Governor’s emergency powers so that he no longer has unilateral lawmaking authority.
