Merry Christmas to you and your family! With the excitement of celebrating our Savior’s birth with family and loved ones, this is one of my favorite times of year. PolyMet Update
Yesterday, the final state permits for PolyMet’s copper-nickel mining project in northeastern Minnesota were approved. This approval includes water and air quality permits and a wetland certification, indicating the project meets the state’s strict environmental standards.
The decision to grant the final state permits will bring new life to the former LTV mining site and is exciting news for our area. Copper-nickel mining projects like this one will create countless good-paying jobs, and yesterday’s announcement brings us one step closer to the economic surge that this mine will set in motion. I will always be an advocate for the responsible development our natural resources, and I am eager to see PolyMet’s long-awaited project become a reality.
