AITKIN – State Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, issued the following statement in response to Wednesday’s reports the federal government is canceling two mining leases in Northeastern Minnesota:
“This is a sad commentary on President Biden and fellow Democrats who are choosing for critical mining to performed by children in foreign countries with little to no environmental protections than for this work to be done here in Minnesota, where we have the highest standards in place to protect workers and responsibly manage our natural resources,” Lueck said. “This decision is a direct shot at the people of Northeastern Minnesota, with literally no respect for hardworking men and women in our region and a disregard for advancements in modern mining and natural resource management. It also presents our governor with an opportunity to stand up with a loud and clear defense of the good people who live and work in Northeastern Minnesota.”
