As we close out the month of May, despite the ongoing battle with the pandemic and the mayhem we have witnessed the past two nights in the metro area, we still have some things to celebrate including the graduation of the Class of 2020. Each of our graduates from our schools within the district will have received a letter expressing my personal congratulations, but I want to take this opportunity to publicly relay those congratulations.
This an especially significant accomplishment for our young men and women. In addition to successfully completing the rigorous academics of their senior year, they have also triumphed over the challenges presented by the current coronavirus pandemic.
Their graduation is an important milestone and will serve each of them well as they move forward to accomplish their long-term career goals. This is an opportunity to take time to look beyond the current difficulties and acknowledge this important milestone in our graduates’ lives.
As young adults, they represent our state's most valuable resource. Their education and success in life is critical to our state and nation’s future, as well as your own. Through this achievement, each of them has demonstrated the ability to meet the important responsibilities and challenges that await them in the future.
To each I say, set your goals high and keep your options open as you embark on the next exciting chapter in your life. Again, to each and every member of the Class of 2020, my congratulations and best wishes for success in the future.
As always, please be safe and considerate of others.
