Legislative news: Session begins

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

Dear Neighbor,

The 2020 legislative session is underway in St. Paul. It is good to be back at the Capitol working on behalf of District 10B residents. Beginning this week until May 18 (the date for adjournment), I will be in St. Paul Monday through Thursday and back in the district on Fridays. If you are going to be in St. Paul and would like to arrange an office visit, please email or call ahead so we can get you on the schedule.

This session will focus on state bonding and policy issues. The task ahead is making sure we in the Legislature and the governor use common sense when dealing with policy issues. We have many important items to work on.

It’s vital that we leave the extreme issues on the sidelines and keep our focus on issues like eliminating the state income tax on social security retirement benefits, lowering the cost of healthcare, strengthening our local economies by fostering a job creating environment, improving educational outcomes and investing wisely in protecting our environment.

The first two months of the session we hear bills in the various committees in preparation for their possible introduction for a vote of the full House. My committee hearing schedule is: Tuesdays, Environment and Natural Resources Finance 9:45-11:15 a.m., Agriculture Finance and Policy 12:45-2:15 p.m.; Wednesdays, 9:45-11:15 a.m. Environment and Natural Resources Policy; Thursdays, Environment and Natural Resources Finance 9:45-11:15 a.m., and Agriculture Finance and Policy 12:45-2:15 p.m.. At this point we have full House Floor sessions late on Monday and Thursday afternoons.

I welcome input and encourage District 10B residents to contact me as we work through the legislative session,  the easiest way is via email at: rep.dale.lueck@house.mn  or by phone (651) 296-2365.  Additional information can be found on my legislative website. Also I participate in KKIN radio’s (94.3 FM) Community Connection broadcast from 7:35-8 a.m. on Friday mornings.

Sincerely,

Dale
