Koznick Connection: Legislative Update (January 11, 2019)

Friday, January 11, 2019

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The 2019 Legislative Session officially began January 8th as I joined 133 of my colleagues in taking the oath of office in a ceremony at the State Capitol.

It is an incredible honor and privilege to be Lakeville’s representative in St. Paul for another term. I remain as committed as ever to working to ensure that Lakeville and Minnesota remain a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Most of my work during the first months of session will take place in House committees. For the 2019-2020 legislative biennium, I have been assigned to serve on the Jobs and Economic Development Finance Division, Transportation Finance and Policy Division, and the Subcommittee on Local Government. Additionally, I have been elected by my peers in the House Republican Caucus to serve as an assistant minority leader.

This year’s committee assignments give me the opportunity to work closely on the issues that matter most to Lakeville residents. Issues like access to good-paying jobs and increased funding for our roads and bridges. I am also committed and looking forward to serving on caucus leadership to help provide direction for more efficient state government that provides greater opportunity and freedoms for Minnesotans.

On a final note, I was proud to have my father with me at Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony. I am grateful for all his support and for the opportunities he and my family and friends have provided to me.
