Legislative Update - November 19, 2018

Monday, November 19, 2018

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for the trust you placed in me earlier this month by giving me the opportunity to represent you in Saint Paul for another two years. We have a great deal of work to do when we convene in January, including some items left on the table from the previous session, and perhaps most significantly, a two-year budget to set.

Here is some information from the Capitol:

Free Park Friday: November 23rd

Governor Dayton has proclaimed Friday, November 23rd as “Free Park Friday.” For the fourth consecutive year, all entrance fees to state parks will be waived the day after Thanksgiving. This is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy all the natural beauty our state offers. For more information, click here.

Heating assistance available for veterans

Low-income veterans are being encouraged to apply for help paying heating bills through the Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Visit the Minnesota Department of Commerce for more information on the program.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness

As we prepare for the colder weather, it is important to be aware of the signs, symptoms and dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. About 500 people die annually from exposure to CO. The Department of Health has some good tips here.

I hope you have an excellent Thanksgiving holiday with your family. I anticipate providing more information about the coming session soon, including the committees on which I’ll be serving.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your feedback, or if I can ever be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Jack Considine

State Representative
