RELEASE: Rep. Moran announces Virtual Community Town Hall on Distance Learning Thursday

Tuesday, August 25, 2020

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Thursday, August 27 at 4 p.m., Rep. Rena Moran (DFL – Saint Paul) invites parents to join her and representatives from community organizations for a Virtual Community Town Hall on Distance Learning. The event, to be held on Rep. Moran’s Facebook page, will give community members an opportunity to share their experiences with distance learning, and ideas and solutions to improve student outcomes for the coming school year.

“All students deserve a world-class education, but the change to distance learning due to COVID-19 has meant too many children have been left behind,” Rep. Moran said. “This past spring, students, parents, and teachers were all forced to quickly learn how to navigate distance learning. Everyone did the best they could under the circumstances, but this fall, we must improve this process to ensure all students receive the quality, equitable education they deserve in a way that logistically works for every family. Many parents have been coming forward with concerns, and I hope they can join us on Thursday to share what has worked for them and their children, as well as their ideas to strengthen results for students and families.”

Organizations co-hosting the event include the MN Parent Union, Uplift MN, the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood Parent Council, People Serving People, the Fannie Education Alliance, 30,000 Feet, and Concerned Parents of ANEW BAM.

Community members are invited to submit questions in advance to Jasmyn.DiMeglio@house.mn with “Town Hall” in the subject line.
