NEW HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MEMBERS TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE BY THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION FOUNDATION AT AWARD CEREMONY TONIGHT 9/11/2019

[ST. PAUL, MN, September 11, 2011] The American Conservative Union Foundation will be honoring recipients of the highest scores on its 2019 scorecard at an award ceremony tonight at 8 pm with a reception to follow. The event will be held at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Park.

All four members of the New House Republican Caucus scored 90% or higher on the ACUF scorecard which qualifies them for their top award for “Conservative Excellence.”

Rep. Drazkowski said, I am happy to see that I am the highest-scoring Minnesota House Member and I am more happy to see that they selected one of the amendments I offered, an  amendment on the Public Safety Bill to solidify the “stand your ground” provisions in Minnesota Law last session to be in their scorecard. Although we did not prevail, we won’t give up until we give Minnesotans the security that they will not be prosecuted for defending themselves and their loved ones.”

Rep. Miller said, “I am very glad to see my conservative voting record highlighted by ACUF. I am also very happy that they chose to score one of the amendments I offered, an amendment version of a bill I offered protecting the unborn by banning abortions once a Fetal Heartbeat is detected unless the life of the mother is threatened. Although the amendment did not get the votes needed, we were able to get a vote on the record on this important question that is moving hearts and minds across America and propelling the conversation forward on respect for all human life.

Rep. Bahr said, “I am happy to be recognized by a national organization like ACUF for my strong freedom-supporting voting record. I am especially pleased that they selected one of the amendments I offered, an amendment to the Transportation Bill that would have stripped a provision and funding for an expansion of the North Star Commuter Rail Line. This line has been a money pit from day one. If we lengthen the route, it will lose even more money per mile. We need to say ‘No,’ loud and clear, right now.”

Rep. Munson said, “I am proud to be recognized by a national organization like ACUF for my solid conservative voting record. They give their top awards to people who fight for freedom, individual liberty, and smaller government. That is what I came to the legislature to do.”

The Conservative Political Action Conference will be hosting an event earlier in the day, from 4-8 before the award ceremony to honor the heroism of 9/11 first responders and citizens around the country.

The NHRC is led by Rep. Steve Drazkowski (Republican-Mazeppa).  It includes Rep. Cal Bahr (Republican-East Bethel), Rep. Tim Miller (Republican-Prinsburg), and Rep. Jeremy Munson (Republican-Lake Crystal).

Their scores in the scorecard were as follows:

Rep. Cal Bahr 2019 Average – 90%/ Lifetime 88%

Rep. Tim Miller2019 Average – 90%/ Lifetime 87%
