Rep. Masin Supports Gov. Walz Plan to Distribute $853 Million in CARE Act Funding

St. Paul, MN- Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced a plan to distribute $853 million in relief to communities across the state impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. $841 million will be distributed to Minnesota counties, cities, and towns to support local government coronavirus relief efforts. $12 million will be allocated toward food shelves and food banks. The funding was authorized under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

“This funding will go a long way towards supporting our local communities,” said Rep. Sandra Masin (DFL - Eagan.) “I’m grateful that Governor Walz was able to step in and distribute these funds in a timely manner after the Legislature was not able to come to a final agreement.”

Representative Masin represents portions of Dakota County, Burnsville, and Eagan which will receive $52 million, $4.7 million, and 5.1 million, respectively under the Governor’s plan.
