Legislative Update - March 20, 2020

Friday, March 20, 2020

Rep. Hanson

Dear neighbors,

My colleagues and I are following the guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), but we’re still working on behalf of the people of Minnesota. We’re working hard on legislation to address the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges it has created and answering many questions from constituents every day.

We all have a part to play in slowing the spread of this disease. Like many Minnesotans, legislators are practicing social distancing and working from home if possible.

When we need to pass emergency legislation, like we did on Monday, we’re limiting the number of state representatives on the House floor and keeping a six-foot distance between ourselves and others.

The Capitol Rotunda was empty after the House passed an emergency funding bill on Monday night.

A list of measures we should all be taking to help stop the spread of COVID-19 is available here.

While we’re not physically at the Capitol, there are several ways to keep in touch with me and other legislators while adhering to public health guidelines.

Update from the DNR

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is adjusting or cancelling public events, open houses, and meetings in response to COVID-19. State parks, recreation areas, campgrounds, and other public lands will remain open for the time being. More information about the DNR’s response is available here.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. If I can be of assistance in any way, please contact me at rep.rick.hansen@house.mn or 651-296-6828.

Sincerely,

Rick Hansen
State Representative
