Legislative Update - January 7, 2020

Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Rep. Hanson

Dear neighbors,

As Minnesotans, we’re proud of our clean air and water, abundant natural resources, and rich outdoor heritage. We want to protect the things that make our state such a special place to live for future generations of Minnesotans, but we’re already seeing the impacts of climate change. If you’d like to help create a bold, comprehensive plan to address the climate crisis and protect our environment, please join me and the Climate Action Caucus this Sunday at Dodge Nature Center!

This community conversation is part of a series of events we’re holding to bring legislators, policy experts, and Minnesotans together. I’m looking forward to co-chairing this event and hearing from a great lineup of policy experts, including representatives from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources, the Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Plants and Pests Center, and the Metropolitan Council. You can RSVP and find more information here. Please feel free to share the Facebook event or this email with others who might be interested in joining.

National Deer Alliance Supports Emergency Rule

In my last legislative update, I talked about the emergency rule that the DNR put in place after a captive deer in Western Minnesota tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). The 30-day rule prohibits moving farmed white-tailed deer. Today, the National Deer Alliance shared their support for this measure.

Upcoming LCCMR Meeting

Starting at 9am, you can tune in live to hear the other members and I review proposals for 2020. Members of the public are invited to share their thoughts as well. The agenda for the meeting is available here.
