Though the Minnesota House doesn’t officially reconvene until February 2020, the mini-session offers a chance for state legislators to see the impact of legislation through a different lens outside of St. Paul. It has been more than 20 years since the last mini-session was held in Willmar in 1997, and this year restarts the tradition of holding offsite hearings as part of efforts to make the Minnesota House more accessible. 2020 High School Page Program
Modeled after the United States Congress Page Program, the Minnesota House of Representatives High School Page Program was established in 1975. Today, the program remains dedicated to providing students with meaningful opportunities, and has evolved into one of the top page programs in the nation.
The Sergeant’s Office is currently accepting applications for the 2020 Legislative Session, and I highly encourage all interested high school juniors to apply. You can find more information on the program and how to apply on the Minnesota House webpage. The deadline to apply is November 21st.
DAIRI Program Deadline Extension
The Dairy Assistance, Investment, and Relief Initiative (DAIRI) has extended their application deadline until October 8, 2019. The DAIRI program provides financial assistance to small- to medium-sized dairy operations that participate in the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program.
During the 2019 Legislative Session, we fought hard for an $8 million investment in DAIRI. This funding will be used to help dairy farmers enroll in a national insurance program to provide economic relief for farmers suffering as a result of dangerously low milk prices. LCCMR Survey
The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) is seeking input for a strategic plan that will guide funding from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) for the next six years.
The survey is anonymous and open to the public, and takes less than 5 minutes to complete. The survey will be open until Monday, October 28. You can take the survey online here.
